Google UX Design Course Portfolio Tutorial

Prefer to watch and listen? I got you!

Today, we will be looking at my UX portfolio that I made for the UX Google course.

Before we delve into my portfolio, I'd like to share some tips and then finally showcase my portfolio.

Tip 1: Explain your work

When showcasing your work, it's important to explain your process and include any research you have done. While the final product may be visually appealing, including the text, research, and explanations demonstrates your thinking and the importance of the UX process.

Tip 2: Presentation

Before sharing your portfolio with the world, create a visually appealing presentation. Use images that align with the brand throughout the different stages of your work.

Tip 3: Keep on brand

When presenting your work, it's crucial to maintain consistency with the brand. I like to use the same fonts as my personal brand throughout the presentation. Additionally, I incorporate the brand's colors into the design, such as using their brand color for subtitles to make them stand out. This ensures that your presentation aligns with both your personal brand and the brand you are designing for.

Tip 4: Use mockups

Including mockups in your projects is a great way to showcase your work. In UX, a mockup refers to a static wireframe that includes visual UI. In branding and graphic design, it means placing the static design on a placeholder, like a laptop displaying one of the wireframes. Using mockups allows viewers to see the work in action on different devices, such as desktops, laptops, tablets, and phones.

Now that you have these four tips for creating a portfolio, it's time to design it. I recommend designing the presentation in Figma or Adobe XD to ensure it looks polished and professional.

Recommendations for designing UX portfolio

Once you have everything ready, the next step is to transfer it to an online portfolio. I personally recommend Webflow because unlike other website designers, you have more customization options and don't have to work with a template. This is crucial for ensuring good UX on your website, as even the smallest details matter, especially for your portfolio.
