KIDS CHEF APP – UX/UI CASE STUDY

Project Overview

The Kids Chef App is a UX/UI design project focused on encouraging healthier eating habits in children through a fun and interactive experience.

The aim was to create an app that helps children learn about food while giving parents simple tools to support healthier choices.

Research and Insights

Research showed that children engage more with visual and interactive content than text-heavy information.

Gamification and reward-based interactions were key drivers of engagement.

Parents wanted guidance without complexity, focusing on simple and practical support.

Competitive Analysis

Existing kids-focused apps often lean too heavily on either education or entertainment, which limits long-term engagement.

This highlighted an opportunity to create a more balanced experience combining both learning and interaction.

User Persona

The user group includes both children and parents.

Children want fun and engaging ways to explore food, while parents want simple tools that encourage healthier habits.

The challenge was balancing both needs in one experience.

User Journey

The user journey includes onboarding, exploring food, completing interactive tasks and tracking progress.

Short, simple interactions were key to keeping engagement high.

Information Architecture

The structure was kept simple with minimal navigation depth, making it easy for users to explore and learn.

User Flow

User flows focused on short learning and interaction loops designed to maintain engagement without overwhelming users.

Wireframes and Iteration

Wireframes explored simple layouts and child-friendly navigation patterns. Iterations focused on reducing complexity and improving clarity.

Visual Design

The visual style is playful and engaging, designed to appeal to children while remaining clear for parents.

Accessibility

Accessibility was considered through clear typography, strong contrast and simple interface structure.

High-Fidelity Design

The final screens show interactive learning, food exploration and progress tracking in a simple and engaging way.

Final Outcome

The final design creates a balanced experience that encourages healthier eating habits in children through simple, interactive learning.
